Before you can start any journey, you need a starting point and a destination. If you want to go on a trip overseas, you need to know your departure and arrival destinations. Only then can you start to work out the details, or strategies, of how you will make this happen. If you were to walk into the travel agent and ask to purchase a ticket overseas, the first question they would ask is "Where do you want to go?" and "From where will you be leaving?". Without the answers to these two fundamental questions, they will be unable to process your request. Seems logical, doesn't it? Yet, we continue to set goals and create dreams of what we want in life without ever having a clear picture of our current departure point or our future destination.
Take the dream "I want a new car". What is your starting point? Do you currently have a car? If so, shat sort of car do you currently drive? What is it currently worth? Will you use it as a trade in? How much can I afford to pay for a new one? What is my current financial situation?
These are just some of the questions you will need to answer, before you start planning for you new car.
So start thinking about your current dream. Start asking yourself questions so that you can get a clear picture of your starting point.
